Why our beauty editor is swearing by this shampoo-conditioner duo!

It’s such an irony, that all those lovely styling products that I use to get my often unruly hair in shape, or the shine serum that makes my strands so glossy have an adverse effect really. The shine enhancing ingredients – dimethicone in the serum or the resins in the mousse – coat the strands make it less healthy looking. These clog the roots and don’t let the scalp breathe.

I have been hearing so much about the latest range of paraben-free shampoos and conditioners Ultra Blends from Garnier, so decided to give the products a try – my hair could do with little fewer chemicals after all. The brand said that this was “haircare from the heart of nature”.

I decided to pick the Garnier Ultra Blends Henna & Blackberry variant meant for dull, dry, lifeless hair. I am always little iffy about using products that have henna in them, since my earlier experience with the popular hair care active has been less than favourable. I had to deal with brittleness for a while. But then I wanted to see if this shampoo and conditioner could bring back that shine.

I love hair products that smell good, and Garnier Ultra Blends Henna & Blackberry shampoo and conditioner smelt heavenly – a blend of floral and fruity notes. The plum-hued clear shampoo somehow gave me the sensation that it’s going to wash off all that gunk out of my three-day old unwashed hair.

Well, it did. The gently lathering-shampoo left my hair feeling squeaky clean. The light weight conditioner ran smooth through my strands, and it came off easily (unlike some wash off conditioners) without an endless round of rinsing.

Since I wanted my hair to really take a break, I ditched the blow dryer and let my hair air dry. The result was soft, shiny hair that had some bounce. I did like the healthy look my hair had after a week of using this shampoo-conditioner combo. After all, the antioxidants and vitamin C from Blackberry extracts and the conditioning henna gave my strands lots of movement. I know I am going to pick up the second round of these two because the way my hair looked fresh and shiny even after two days of shampooing is something that I haven’t seen in a long time (and after many shampoos).

Here’s what some of our favourite beauty bloggers have to say. Scroll down to read their verdict on Garnier Ultra Blends Shampoo and Conditioner…

“A big thumbs up! The shampoos do exactly what they promise to, and not many can keep up that claim while being good for you. I plan to definitely keep using all of these shampoos, and will even hop down to Health and Glow to pick up the Mythic Olive Oil one which I’ve heard only great things about.” @thetrousseau.in

“The soy milk and almonds one is what I used first and I think this one is my favourite fragrance. I can keep sniffing this bottle for a long time, it is just so so good. This shampoo left my hair feeling extremely hydrated.” @Allsheneeds.in

“Personally, I loved the Mythic Oil deep nourishing shampoo, which worked well for my hair. The texture of this shampoo is very rich (it’s virgin olive oil, after all), with a lovely fragrance. It cleans the scalp well and leaves your hair feeling soft, nourished and silky. Another favourite has got to be the Henna & Blackberry blend (quite uncommon from what we get to see in the market today), which has a divine aroma.”@Priyaadivarekar.com

“One thing that I liked about Garnier Henna and Berries shampoo is that it does not dry out my hair or scalp. On the third day as well it did not feel as if I needed to shampoo my hair while in most other cases I need to. Also, another thing that I appreciate about this one is that it totally transformed my dull and lifeless hair into the shiny and bouncy hair. I have absolutely straight hair which does not look bouncy after the first day of shampooing my hair but with this, it wasn’t the case. I am pretty happy that it has worked for my hair. Yay!! Happy me” @beautyblogstudio.com
