“The Upside Down” Makeup Trend You Cannot Escape

Millie Bobby Brown

Upside Down eye makeup has been in vogue for quite some time now. From runways to red carpets, celebs to fashion icons, the trend of accentuating the lower lash line with a pop of bright colour has been in the spotlight for over a year. While most celebs have worn the upside down look with muted colours, Millie Bobby Brown took this trend to a whole new high with bold, bright magenta.

The closest anyone has ever come to attempting this look was American actor Dianna Agron when she wore pink eyeliner on her lower lash line at the Chanel Artists Dinner during the Tribeca Film Festival. Millie’s attempt at making a bold statement with her look remains unprecedented. She ditched the tried-and-tested eyeliner and worked with a magenta eyeshadow, giving her appearance a bold, slightly grunge look at San Deigo, Comic-Con!

For this out-of-the-box look, her makeup artist Kelsey Deenihan used a mix of pink eyeshadow and a pink mascara on the lower lashes. She worked with nude hues to keep the eyelids muted.  A hint of peach blush completed the look.

It’s not every day that you come across a makeup look that is so graphic yet stunning. It is only natural to want to give it a go and stoke your sense of vanity just a tad. The good news is that you can re-create this seemingly complex look in the comfort of your home with ease. Here’s how:

To get this Millie Bobby Brown upside down eye makeup right, you need just four products – the Chambor Eyeshadow Quad Roseate Bliss palette, a flat applicator like the Urban Beauty United Shady Lady Eyeshadow Brush, a good mascara and this FACES Canada Peach blush. If you can’t find pink mascara, you can work with a clear variant like the Colorbar USA Oh My My! Conditioning Serum Mascara.

Begin by applying the reddish pink shade from the Chambor palette along your lower lashline with precision to form a thick, even line. Then blend the product slightly onto your under eye area using a blending brush. If you are using transparent mascara, add a hint of pink to your lower lashes using the eyeshadow and seal it in with the mascara. The Chambor palette also has gold and white colours for that shimmery yet bare touch to the eyelids.

And that’s that. You are all set to rock the hottest new makeup trend and receive some Insta love!
