Fashion weeks around the world are about to hit pause, and so far we’ve witnessed everything from basic to bizarre in the hair and beauty department. The motley of looks aroused two main emotions in us—love and loathe; we did have mixed feelings for some but we’ve distanced those from our list of favourite runway trends below.
Our picks from the global runways include trends that will never let you down. They’re worthy of your time+moolah, and are sure to turn all things tepid into terrific. So, don’t shy away from them, try them out and watch the heat turn up at everyday scenes.
Endorse Eccentric Eyes
Dramatic, glittery eyes like the ones you see in the American series ‘Euphoria’, are a THING now! Every major runway has embraced them and it’s time you do too. Get artistic with your eyeshadow—choose striking shades of yellow, red or blue, daub them all over your eyes and punctuate them with glitter or rhinestones. Take inspiration from the eyes at Marc Jacobs and Anna Sui.
Lift The Lipliner Again
This microtrend is swiftly moving towards the limelight. Spotted at three New York runways, it’s another nod to the ‘90s nostalgia. Now just like old times, it’s hep to line them lips; only this time you don’t have to follow the shade card. Have fun with contrasting lipliners just like the makeup artists at Gypsy Sport did.
Bring Back The Braids
Trends indicate that braids should be your bae now. Cornrows, French braids or the simple three-strand braid, any kind will do. Just plait your hair if you want to channel the vibes at Christian Siriano, Bora Aksu and Erdem.
Master The Mini Buns
Be it messy buns or chic chignons—a rolled-up updo is sartorially supreme. Take a cue from looks at Fendi, Moschino and Victoria Beckham to update your bun styles. We’re particularly excited about the return of the space buns, as sported by Spice Girls in the ‘90s and Bella Hadid in 2019.
Know Thy Nail Art
A modern French manicure or OTT ornamented nails, as long as you keep things interesting, your digits will stay in sync with the times. Everything from bejewelled digits to chrome-finished nails made an appearance on the ramps, however we suggest experimenting with neon nail tips as seen at Nicole Miller.
