Beat the heat with a Mango Chia Smoothie

Summer has hit us rather early this year, and it has been extremely dry too. Apart from keeping yourself hydrated, it is very important that you increase your intake of glucose. Sweating can lead to serious health issues if you don’t take proper care.  But are you bored to drinking those same old energy drinks? Worry not; we are here to ensure you get your daily dose of energy – but in a rather delicious way!

If summer is not your favourite season, we are sure going to change that thought. This is the only season that provides abundant fruits and here is one breakfast recipe you need to try if you love mangoes.

Fruity cold breakfasts are an ideal mood changer. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day – so don’t even consider skipping it due to the soaring heat. Instead, take in all the carbs and satisfy the grumbling tummy in a healthy way!

Here is one quick recipe for Chia Mango Smoothie. Made using a few super foods like Chia seeds. Flaxseeds and fruits, this recipe is going to be a sure shot hit.

Chia seeds are tiny seeds which are considered to be whole grain seeds. They are high in protein, vitamins, fiber, magnesium, calcium and omega 3. They are known to hold up to 12 times their weight in water and thus prevent dehydration. Once soaked, they look like transparent globules. Another superfood that is used in this smoothie is Flaxseeds. They are high in fiber, omega 3, fatty acids and lignan. Flaxseeds reduce cholesterol and work as an antioxidant. However, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, it is advisable to not include these in your diet.

Mango Chia Pudding Recipe
What you need:   Chia, 2 Tbsp
Milk, 1 Cup
Honey, 1 Tsp
Flaxseeds, 1/2 Tsp
Mango, 1 Medium Size
Watermelon, 2 Cubes
Banana, 1 medium size
Grapes, 8-10 pieces


  • Soak the Chia in one cup of milk and refrigerate it overnight. Do not heat the milk and add two drops of vanilla essence (optional) to the milk
  • Grind the flaxseeds and store in an airtight container for later use

Chia Mango Smoothie
Take out the Chia-milk pudding from the refrigerator and set aside to cool. Peel a Banana and place it into a grinder and add chopped Mangoes to it. Add honey and flaxseed powder and blend until smooth. Once blended, pour the mixture into a bowl/glass and pour the chia milk pudding over it and garnish with watermelon and grapes. And voila your smoothie is ready!
