Taking selfies! It’s such an obsession right now, so much so that songs are being sung about it. Kim K of the chiselled cheekbones and her famous siblings have actually made taking a selfie into an art. In fact, our very own Sonam Kapoor is no less. The leading lady is quite a whiz at taking selfies – if her morning bed-head pics and poolside clicks are anything to go buy. The selfies are almost always perfect – the tilt of the head, the pout, the hint of a smile or even her big grin.
So take some pointers from these divas on how to get that perfect shot, and take a selfie.
From an Angle
Instead of staring straight into the camera, which can make your face appear flat, tilt your head a little on the side and look diagonally into the lens. It will highlight your cheekbones and jaw line and open up your eyes. Slight pout works well too!
Check the Lighting

The light around you plays a big role in how your photo is going to look. Try to click your selfie in natural light which brightens the complexion. If you want to look flawless and sultry try dimming the light in your room and go clicking. Ensure the light in your room is yellow and not white. While yellow light brings out the golden tones, white light can make your skin appear sallow.
Be Fresh Faced
A clean, fresh complexion is what is going to make you look good in your selfie. You never know when the urge to take a selfie hits you, and you may not have time for makeup. Keep your skin clean with a clarifying face wash like Vichy Oligo 25 Anti Dull Skin Foaming Face Wash, Rs. 1400 or Neutrogena Deep Clean Facial Cleanser, Rs. 350 on a regular basis.
Do the Dewy

Diffused, dewy skin looks great in a selfie, and you can get yours with a spritz or two of the facial mist like Eau Thermale Avene Spring Water Spray, Rs. 600. Spray some spring water on your face and dab gently with a tissue, and click. For a just fresh from the shower look, spray some on the hair framing your face.
Highlight in Low Light
When there’s no light, or it isn’t right and you just need to take that selfie, then turn to your makeup highlighter. Dab some on the high points on your face like cheekbones, bridge of your nose, chin and forehead. Your skin will glow. Try Revlon Photo Ready Skin Lights Face Illuminator, Rs. 995, or Chambor Luminous Loose Powder, Rs. 1375.
Bold Lips Do the Trick

Wear your favourite bright lipstick. Reds, pinks and corals look best – pick a creamy matte variant. Pick Maybelline Color Show Matte Lipstick in Rock the Coral, Rs. 325, or Colorbar Take Me As I Am Lipstick in Sensuous Red, Rs. 900, or Lakme Absolute Creme Lip Pout in Pink Sorbet, Rs. 650. Make a kissy face and snap. It makes a great focal point and your complexion looks bright as well. Try this especially on the days when your skin looks dull.

Go for Golden Glow

Give your selfie a warm feel with a golden, back-lit filter. Or dust some bronze shimmer like Faces Ultime Pro Metali Glow in Champagne, Rs. 799 on your cheeks, forehead and jaw line for that soft, sensuality.
Start the Fan
Windblown hair with few strands across your face makes for a great selfie. So take the cue from professional photographers, and stand a few feet away in front of a fan while clicking your pic. For greater effect, you can add some texture to your hair by spraying some Tony & Guy Casual Sea Salt Texturising Spray, Rs. 1050 through your hair and scrunching it.
Strike a Pose

One of the best ways to get a selfie is to find your pose. It can be from an angle, from the side, from the top, with a big grin or a soft smile. When you feel confident, you feel great and look great. So call on your inner diva and say cheese!
