Look for a relaxing space, grab a stool to rest your feet on and place all the essential things next to you – nail polish remover, nail file, cuticle oil and nipper, foot scrub, massaging cream, pumice stone, foot file, and two towels. Prep up your mood with a relaxing music and aromatic candles.
Nip the nails: Wash your feet and dry them. Take off your old nail polish with acetone free nail polish remover. Cut and shape your nails. Keep it short and straight to avoid in grown toe nails. Cut your toenail with a high-quality clipper and smoothen the edges with a nail file.
Soothe your sole: Fill a big flat bottom bowl or a bucket with warm water. Add some bath salts, and put in few marbles. You can also add a juice of a lime, half cup of milk and rose water, or peppermint essential oil to the water. Soak your feet for 5 to 10 minutes. This softens the calluses and soothes aching feet.
Scrub away roughness: Take any foot scrub and apply on your feet to exfoliate dead skin, and remove calluses. You can also try a sea salt or sugar scrub. Use a pumice stone on your heels and on the balls of your feet to remove the dry skin. Wash your feet and dry them thoroughly. Remember to wipe between the toes. Then take an emery foot file ad smoothen the rough edges. Wipe with a wet towel.
Massage and heal: First, take a cuticle cream and apply on each of your toes. Massage gently the nail bed and the nails. Then use an orange stick or a cuticle pusher to push back the cuticle. Never cut the cuticles as it can cause painful infection. Use cuticle oil on the dry cuticle areas, which help to remove the dry skin and strengthen the nail bed. Alternately you can break a vitamin e capsule and apply the oil on the nails. Then take a rich, creamy foot cream and massage your feet with it. Use a circular motion and apply a little pressure on the base of your toes for a soothing foot massage. Gently knead your calf muscles as well to relieve stress. Ideally, avoid painting your toe nails immediately after the treatment to allow the nails to breathe.
