If wavy brows made waves in 2017, fishtail brows sent the internet in a tizzy in 2018. The idea is to create a fishtail effect by splitting the eyebrow end into two halves. This can be done with a brow product and a dash of concealer to create the effect of negative space. So many amateurs and DIY makeup artists flooded Instagram with their version of the trend. We don’t know why.
Yellow blush sounds like a terrible idea, and that’s exactly how it turns out to be too. A yellow tint smeared across the cheekbones and eyelids was one of the boldest makeup trends for 2018 but bold doesn’t always mean beautiful. It ends up making you look pale and sickly.
This trend was ushered by ramp models in Paris when they walked down the Giambattista Valli fall runways sporting a duo-chrome glitter smeared across their faces, and predictably, triggered a frenzied hype on Instagram. Yes, walking out with a glitter face is sure to make heads turn, but not for the right reasons. Let it RIP.
Matchy Matchy Look
This was yet another look for the runway that spilled over on to the internet and became a trend in its own right. The look debuted at the Marc Jacob’s show where 20 models that dyed their hair and wore makeup to match the colour of their ensembles. No, you don’t want to end up looking like you drowned in a drum of colour. This look is a no-no.
Nail art can be exotic and beautiful, but shaping your nails to look like teeth is neither of the two. It was undoubtedly the most horrifying makeup trend of 2018 that went viral and how. If you have given it a shot, let that all be in the past.
