You can never go wrong with the smokey eyes and nude lips combo. No doubt, it is a classic and it looks good on everyone. That’s why we see so many of our fashionistas and celebs wearing this look on the red carpet.
This eye-makeup is so versatile that you can wear it with your LBD or your favourite saree. You can wear a toned down version to your office party, or add some intensity to the eyes for the date night. This look is a classic, no matter what your skin tone, face structure or eye-shape.
And it’s not difficult to pull off, really. Read on below to discover how to D-I-Y the smokey eye at home.
Step 1: Prime Your Face & Eyes
Prep your skin with a cleansing-toning-moisturising routine then apply a primer to smooth out fine lines and brighten tired skin. Apply a hydrating eye cream and primer on your eyelids too so the makeup will stay on longer. Lakme Absolute Blur Perfect Primer, Rs. 650 creates a clean matte base for makeup. It keeps the makeup on for long.
Step 2: Create the Smoke
All you need is one eyeshadow palette like L’Oreal Paris Color Riche La Palette in Beige, Rs. 1,399. Start by applying the lightest beige on the inner corners of your eye and on the highest point on the arch of your eyebrow. Apply the chocolate brown all over the lid. Now apply the darkest brown on the crease, the upper and lower lash line using an angular brush. Then, a dab of black on the outer-corners along the crease line. Finally, blend it all with an eye shadow blender brush till you get a diffused effect and there are no sharp edges.
Step 3: Frame Your Eyes
Apply a waterproof liquid eyeliner along your lash line. Try Revlon Colorstay Skin Liquid Liner in Blackout, Rs. 775. Line your lower lashes with a thick line of kohl like Faces Longwear Eye Pencil in Solid Black, Rs. 449. Using the blender brush blend the kohl with gentle strokes to create a soft line.
Step 4: Coats of Mascara
Groom your brows. Apply two coats of Maybelline The Falsies Big Eyes Mascara, Rs. 599 to open up your eyes and add that oomph factor.
Step 5: Finishing Touch
Now pout and highlight your cheekbones with a coral or nude blush. Try Maybelline Fit Me Blush in Medium Coral, Rs. 400. Sweep on some flesh toned or nude lip colour on your lips. For a glossy effect try Lakme Absolute Gloss Addict in Nude Glow, Rs. 800 or a matte nude shade like Colorbar Matte Touch Lipstick in Brown Rush, Rs. 499.
